Warwick High School, Class of 2009

Andrew Wenger is the most decorated men's soccer player in Lancaster County history. Known for his versatility, Wenger enjoyed success at every level of competition. Before his standout college career at Duke University and being the top overall pick in the Major League Soccer draft, Wenger was a force on the field for the Warwick Warriors.

Youth
Played with PA Classics in Lancaster from age 12 to 18.

High School
Led Warwick to its first state championship in 2005 and was a two-time NSCAA/Adidas Boys High School All-American. He was named both the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year and National Player of the Year, as well as Lancaster Newspapers Boys' Soccer Player of the Year.

College
Played three seasons at Duke University (2009–2011), winning the 2011 Hermann Trophy, presented by the Missouri Athletic Club to the best male player in NCAA Division I soccer. After anchoring Duke's defense at center back for two years, Wenger moved to forward in 2011 and led the Atlantic Coast Conference with 17 goals and eight assists for 42 total points, earning him ACC Offensive Player of the Year honors. This followed his 2009 ACC Rookie of the Year and 2010 ACC Defensive Player of the Year awards. Wenger also became just the second Blue Devil in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors, and he was named to the All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll in each of his three seasons.

International
Invited to two U.S. Under-23 national team camps and also played with the U-20 and U-17 national squads.

Professional
Selected #1 overall by the Montreal Impact in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, Wenger went on to play for the Philadelphia Union and Houston Dynamo before retiring in 2018 at age 28. Over his eight-year MLS career, he made 181 appearances and scored 23 goals. His team honors include a Canadian Championship with the Impact in 2013 and a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title with the Dynamo in 2018. Individually, he was named the Dynamo's Newcomer of the Year in 2016 and Humanitarian of the Year in both 2016 and 2017.

Education
After leaving Duke early, Wenger returned to complete his B.A. in History. He later earned an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Columbia Business School and currently works as a principal partner at Sandton Capital Partners in New York City.
