The late Phil Kauffman built a remarkable legacy as head football coach at Cocalico High School, compiling a 186-112 record over 18 seasons. Under his leadership, the Eagles won 11 Lancaster-Lebanon League section titles and two District Three championships, and reached the PIAA Class AA semifinals in 1994. Kauffman's success on the sidelines was recognized seven times, as he was voted Lancaster-Lebanon League Coach of the Year on multiple occasions throughout his career.
His contributions to the game were further honored with his induction into the Susquehanna Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2015, followed by his induction into the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2016. Beyond coaching, Kauffman remained connected to the sport as a football analyst on Blue Ridge Cable.
A three-sport athlete in his own right, Kauffman played football, basketball, and baseball at Cocalico, and was a member of Lancaster County championship baseball teams in 1964 and 1965.
