Amnesty Welch, nickname “Misty,” says her inner spirit is to “do
your best, try your hardest!”
As a freshman on the Columbia girls track team, Misty knows
she will have to “up her game” to compete with the
upperclassmen.
Misty’s races are the sprints -- 100m, 200m and the 4x100m
relay. She has previously run a 13.6 second 100m dash. She wants to
lower her time to help Columbia.
Misty says Columbia’s all sport rivalry is known as “The Bridge
War” (or “Cross River Rivalry”) with games and matches against
Eastern York High School. However, within Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 3, the
meet with Lancaster Catholic is a key one.
There is no off-season for Misty. She plays volleyball, flag football
and cheerleads. Cheerleading is her favorite off-season activity.
And these other activities, she claims, prepare her for track and
the sprints.
In school activities besides sports, Misty plays the flute in
Columbia’s symphonic band and she is Class of ’29 historian.
In the classroom Misty is an Honor Roll student and looks ahead
to “do her best” to study child psychology in college.
