Brooke Hess, a senior, "roams” the field for Lampeter-Strasburg's
track and field team. Her specialties lie in discus, shot and
javelin.
She says this is her sixth year of competing in field events.
Brooke commends assistant field coaches, Jason McComsey and Jacob Long,
for helping her improve in her events. She also credits her
teammate, Ceci Ellis, for pushing her in practice and meets, as
they have a “friendly rivalry” on the team.
This year Brooke plans to break her personal record of 99 feet, 4 inches in discus and
32-5 in shot. And she hopes to contribute to LS’s team score in
javelin.
Brooke thinks L-S’s team has a promising outlook for
this year. L-S looks good, particularly on the track. L-S has a top in sprinter Maya
Brenneman, who also adds points in the long jump.
Brooke says Manheim Central is the annual favorite in Section 2.
In school, Brooke belongs to two clubs, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes and High School Heroes, which works with third grade students to encourage them in
academics and extracurricular activities
Brooke’s favorite subjects in school are shop classes,
specifically welding, but also electronics and plumbing. Next fall,
she plans to study at Stevens College of Technology.
In school, sports and life, any success Brooke has, she
enthusiastically says is … “All for the Glory of God!”
